Condi in Strong Stand on Gaza Pullout

Condi Rice spoke out today in Jerusalem on the pullout of Isrealis from Gaza. "The United States cannot make the disengagement work, only the Israelis and Palestinians can make the disengagement work," she said.

She also said the two sides seemed of a mind to accomplish the process, "Israel and the Palestinian Authority share a commitment to ensure that disengagement happens smoothly without violence," she said.

How outstanding to see Condoleeza Rice telling it like it is on the Gaza pullout, and making it quite clear that the USA expects the two sides to accomplish the feat without some form of mediation, other than her visits with those involved. Formal mediation in the past has not worked.
